Textile Mills & Production Cycle
Understand how fabrics are made into garments
Textile mills employ a multi-step process for taking raw materials and turning them into usable products. A typical production cycle looks like this:
- At the textile mill fibers are spun into yarn and transformed through weaving or knitting into fabrics.
- The dye house then performs pre-treatment processes. Fabric is prepared to accept dyes and necessary chemicals. Finishing treatments are performed to create special technical properties or desired aesthetic appeal. Eg. antibacterial properties, water resistance, or fashion applications.
- Apparel manufacture then pattern cuts the fabric to the desired specifications and gathers additional decorations like zipper pulls and buttons.
- Decorators apply decorations to the garment, such as, direct to garment embroidery, screen print, heat transfers and more.
- Apparel manufacture receives all materials to sew, finish and package the garment for delivery.
Samples & Testing
Getting the first sample and the stress test we perform
Once we get a sample in hands we perform a variety of tests to ensure the highest quality product. Most garments aren’t the same after the first wash. Color gets washed out or the stitching becomes too loose, whatever the case maybe we perform a wash test and work to correct those issues before you get your custom clothes. Listed below are some of the tests we perform:
- Wash & Dry Test
- Color Accuracy Test
- Fit & Ergonomics Test
Fabrics & Color
Color is applied to fabric in a number of different ways
Learn about how and when different dyeing methods are used to determine the best option for your Exclusive Custom apparel.
Pre-fiber Dyeing
Dye is added a fiber chemical solution before passing through the spinneret. Fibers are pre colored.
Fiber Dyeing
Also called top dyeing. Fiber is colored before being made into yarn. Large quantities required
Yarn Dyeing
Yarn is dyed before fabric / garment production. Moderate quantities.
